Dirk Krüger and the Two Handed Fly Rod for Dad

March 02, 2015 1 min read

Hello Jeanie, hello Carl,
Attached are some pics of the 11'6" build. The wraps will get a final sanding and Coating this week. The rod has to be finished by next Saturday when my Dad is going to celebrate his 80. birthday. So I am in a hurry!!
Once given it to him I do not know when I will get another chance to take photos of it. So here is the rod nearly finished. Wrapped with Pearsalls dark brown and dark olive to match a golden Hardy Sovereign (or any other classic "golden" reel like Fin Nor, Seamaster, etc.)

(Dirk Krüger, custom fly rod maker, Germany)

What a present.

Perhaps that’s too literal an interpretation, but the whole fly rod and reel balance exercise is actually pretty pointless, after-all, when is the fly rod balanced? - standing in the carpark balanced on a finger with no line out?

"Native fish are often indicator species whose health tells us much about the waters they live in. In this film we will look at the survival challenges these fish have or have had and the successes we're having in managing them, examining working solutions. Factors adversely affecting native fish around the world are often the same, such as over fishing, invasive species, habitat loss, etc"
