We're stoked to release the 4 weight 11 foot trout spey blanks and Ready to Wrap Rod kits!
We've been asked to develop this one for a while now, at 11 feet for a 4 weight (Spey) the 411 is the perfect short Spey rod for trout fishing. Call it a Switch, a short Spey, Trout Spey - whatever, the 411 is perfect for swinging short head Spey lines for trout.
*(Studio Built 411 Trout Spey will follow next week! - so stay tuned!)

Ground ferrule system
In addition to the industry leading technology used in each of our blanks, Epic carbon fibre fly rod blanks feature our proprietary SureFit™ ground ferrule system. Each male ferrule is hand ground to perfectly fit the female section of the blank. Female sections are all internally reinforced. Sections are so precise they can be swopped out in case of breakages.
The perfect match for our new 411
Designed for light double-handed duty and with a short, powerful taper, the Lite Skagit is ideal for smaller streams and trout Spey applications. Available in grain weights from 150-360, this two-colored shooting features a black marker at the end of the head that serves as a visible notification on where to begin your cast. Works perfectly with our SONAR Sinking Leaders and textured TC Tips. From dredging for steelhead to swinging streamers for trout, the Skagit Lite is Spey on a smaller scale.

Which weighs more, a floating fly line or a sinking line? It may surprise you to know that they both weigh the same - at 30 feet anyway. Or at least they should.
For example, under the AFFTA system for rating fly lines a 5 weight fly line is a 5wt regardless of whether it is a floater, a sinking fly line or an intermediate.
