The 580 is super versatile, super smooth and just slick as all hell. Our personal favourite, the Epic 580 is the perfect dry fly rod.
Our Epic™ 580 is crafted from Unidirectional S2 Glass, this material is stiffer and stronger than e-glass or standard s-glass. The 580 is a super smooth and extremely versatile fly rod blank.
All Epic "Glass" rods are produced from industry leading 8 micron Unidirectional S-2 Glass. This next generation fiber is specifically engineered for fly rod production and features 8 micronfibers developed and produced in the USA. These fibres are almost half the diameter of other unidirectional materials, resulting in tighter, more precise and stronger fly rods.
SnakeBelly™ delivers the toughest exterior finish possible. After production, blanks are first painted and then clear coated. This two step process produces blanks that are incredibly scratch resistant and durable.
Break a tip? we've got you covered This ferule system is so precise that breakages can be addressed by simply sending out the replacement part. Gone are the days of having to return a broken section.

Epic FastGlass rods are the best which I ever had a chance to use. I will never change them for any other glass rods.
This blank is so amazing I now have to replace all my rods with an epic. This rod is so beautiful I took down my family portraits and hung this rod in its place whenever it's not being fished. It is now my go-to rod.
In the process of finishing the blank so I haven’t fished it yet, but everything looks great. Outstanding customer service as well!
A truly great feeling fast action glass rod that has plenty behind it to shoot accurately, but delicate enough to make the ideal presentation. Really impressed with this blank, especially the precision and craftsmanship. The attention to detail is clear, and has made me a believer in what Carl McNeil is doing with these rods
When customers ask my opinion on which rod to choose, the best advice is to buy the highest quality rod that will allow them to do what they want to do, the most often. The majority of the time, that’s trout fishing and I steer them towards the 580. It has delicacy for dries, power for small streamers, and the ability to work small nymphing rigs. Not to mention, the backbone to handle trout with ease....and then some. The new blank, somehow, improved upon the last one and it’s a dream to build-up and fish. Extremely versatile and smooth!
